Tasting Notes: 2012 Cascina Martinetti Barbera d'Asti - Minnesota Uncorked™

Tasting Notes: 2012 Cascina Martinetti Barbera d’Asti

What’s your go-to pizza and wine pairing? This 2012 Cascina Martinetti Barbara d’Asti and Dominos Pizza did the trick to cap off the end of a long week.

Deep garnet with bricking at the rim, noticeable sediment (hint: it’s unfiltered). Prominent nose: leather, tobacco, raisin, black cherry. Flavors match the nose. Medium- body, high acidity, medium- tannin and a long finish lingering with ripe black cherry flavor. Layers of complexity, good balance, good concentration and varietal typicity.

On the pizza: Italian sausage, onions and banana peppers. Pairing made in pizza lovers heaven!
